The Bank of Nevis Ltd was the brainchild of Dr. Simeon Daniel, former premier of Nevis. The Bank was incorporated on August 29th, 1985 under the laws of the Federation of St. Christopher and Nevis; however, the Bank opened its doors for business to the public on December 9th, 1985. This was just two years after Nevis had been granted new powers under the new independence constitution of the Federation of St. Christopher and Nevis.

The Bank was created out of a desire to provide banking services to the local community with the hope that this would assist with the development of the island’s economy. It is for this reason that The Bank adopted the motto ‘Improving the Quality of Life’.

The National Commercial Bank of Dominica was created by Act No 27 of 1976 by the Parliament of Dominica (under the name National Commercial and Development Bank of Dominica) The bank officially opened for business on March 15, 1978 with the Agricultural Industrial and Development Bank (AID) bank as a wholly owned subsidiary. In January 1982, the AID Bank was made a separate and independent entity. In 1994, the bank invested in NCB Grenada, jointly, with two other OECS indigenous banks to own 12.5% of that bank. An investment in the Caribbean Credit Card Corporation for the issuance and processing of local and international credit cards was also made. Additionally, the Bank acquired shares in the newly privatized Liat (1974) Ltd and East Caribbean Home Mortgage Bank.

By letter dated October 10, 2003, National Commercial Bank of Dominica was advised by the Government of Dominica of its decision to divest itself of its majority holding in the National Commercial Bank (NCB).This was part of Government of Dominica’s strategy to privatize NCB. This decision meant that the NCB Act Chapter 74:02 was repealed and a new company, the National Bank of Dominica Ltd was incorporated to succeed the NCB.

Bank of Saint Lucia is a subsidiary of Eastern Caribbean Financial Holding Company. It was formed in July 2001 as a result of the merger between National Commercial Bank and the Saint Lucia Development Bank.

Bank of Saint Lucia is the largest bank in Saint Lucia with the biggest ATM network on the island. It has branches in Gros Islet, Vieux Fort, Soufrière, and Castries (Bridge Street and the Waterfront Areas) as well as a Bureau de Change at Hewanorra International Airport.

After the National Commercial Bank of St. Lucia Limited opened its doors to the public in 1981, the Saint Lucia Development Bank Limited soon followed. As the names suggest the National Commercial Bank functioned as a commercial bank satisfying the personal banking needs of customers. The Saint Lucia Development Bank on the other hand was set up to provide funding in the areas of manufacturing, agriculture, tourism and fisheries.

Antigua Commercial Bank (ACB) was incorporated in 1955, with a share capital of EC$100,000. It is the country’s first indigenous bank and public company. ACB is well known for its role in assisting local entrepreneurs and small business owners. Its subsidiary, ACB Mortgage and Trust Company Ltd., is the largest indigenous provider of mortgage financing on the island. ACB aims “to be the leading financial services provider by exceeding our stakeholders’ expectations through exemplary service, innovative products and adapting to an ever-changing environment.”

The Bank operates three (3) branches and one (1) agency and has ten (10) Automated Teller Machines, including a multicurrency ATM at the new terminal of the VC Bird International Airport. ACB has a staff complement of one hundred and ten (110), and is one of the largest indigenous commercial banks in Antigua & Barbuda, with an audited asset base of US $373 million as at September 30, 2014.
